Koa Amy Model Concert

Welcome to Cannon Beach!  Being on the shores of the Pacific Ocean gives me a lot of inspiration for building ukes.  This site is under construction, so please bear with me as I try to sort things out.  The site is pretty straightforward, the two Gallery pages have images of ukulele that I have made, all shown built within the last two years.  The Workshop page shows many of these same instruments under construction.  The My Info page tells you a bit about me, and the Orders page explains my ordering process and has my contact information.  Clicking on any of the images will enlarge them.  Enjoy!

  1. Hi,

Today I received one of your ukulele’s that I bought off of ebay. The label reads Model# UKS1 Serial # 152 4-2-09. I’m pretty sure the neck and body are made out of mahogany, but I’m not sure what woods the fretboard, binding and headstock overlay are. I’d appreciate any info you could send to me.

It really is a terrific instrument. I’m very impressed with the craftsmanship. I love that it is Made in America. Those are very powerful words that I’m passionate about.

    Thanks,
    Brad Gray

    • Hi Brad,
I just checked my records, the body and neck are Honduran mahogany. I believe the fretboard, bridge and binding are Bolivian rosewood.

  2. Hi Bradford-

This is Mendel from the Ukulele Underground. I play “Hugs and Kisses” everyday. I fell in love with it the moment I opened it up and it sounds amazing. You are an artist and a gentleman. I will forever cherish the experience of having a Uke built, and the information and education the you provided along the way have made me a better, and more educated player. Thank you. I recommend your work to anyone that really wants a high quality instrument. You are the best.

  3. Brad – Thanks again for the wonderful Amy concert ukulele I received from you last week, with Myrtle sides & back, Port Orford Cedar top, and nice side port. I was surprised that the back is concave – like a snowboarding half pipe. When I strum it hard, this baby is LOUD, but I can back off with nice dynamics. I am a fingerstyle payer, and this uke fits me perfectly. I go through a lot of ukuleles, but this one is a keeper.
